These terms are the agreement between you and Next Tech Labs for using Sunnah
Habit. They are written to be read, not to be skipped. If you do not agree with
them, please do not create an account.
The app is free
Sunnah Habit is free to use. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, no
paid tier, and no advertising. We do not ask for donations inside the app, and
we do not sell your data. If that ever changes, we will say so clearly before it
does, and these terms will be updated first.
Your account
You need an account to track habits, because your data has to belong to
somebody. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself, and for
what happens under your account while you are signed in.
One person, one account. Do not create accounts for other people, and do not
share yours.
You must be old enough to consent to the processing of your data where you live
(16 in much of the EU, 13 in several other places). If you are younger, a parent
or guardian should hold the account and supervise its use.
What you may do with the app
Use it, for your own religious practice and learning, on your own devices, for
as long as you like. That is the whole intended use, and no permission beyond it
is needed.
What you may not do
- Take the app apart to redistribute it, resell it, or ship your own version of
it.
- Attack, overload or probe our servers, or try to reach other people's data.
- Automate the app to manufacture streaks, XP or leaderboard positions. The
leaderboard only means anything if it is honest.
- Upload a profile photo you do not have the right to use. Nobody else sees it,
but it is still your own account you are putting it on.
If you do these things we may suspend or remove your account. For anything
short of abuse we will contact you first.
Religious content — an important limit
Sunnah Habit contains Qur'anic text, translations, recitation, hadith, du'as and
a Qa'idah and Tajweed course. We take that content seriously and cite its
sources in the app's Credits screen.
It is not a substitute for a qualified teacher. In particular, the
pronunciation feedback in the Qa'idah lessons is produced by an automated
listener that is frequently wrong in both directions — it accepts mistakes and
questions correct recitation. It is offered as a second opinion for practice,
never as a verdict on your recitation of the Qur'an. Learn from a teacher; use
the app between lessons.
Prayer times are calculated on your device from your location and your chosen
calculation method. Methods differ, and so do local conventions. Where the app
and your local mosque disagree, follow your mosque.
Answers from the app's "Ask" feature are generated from a fixed knowledge base
of Islamic material. Treat them as a starting point for study, and take any
matter of ruling to a scholar.
Your content
The habits you create, the notes you write and the profile photo you upload
remain yours. You give us only the permission needed to store that content and
show it back to you — and, on the leaderboard, to show your display name and
username to other users. Your photo is not covered by that: we never show it to
anyone else. You can hide your identity on the leaderboard at any time in your
profile settings, which withholds your display name and leaves your username
standing in for it.
Our content
The app itself — its code, design, artwork, and the Qa'idah lessons and audio we
produced — belongs to Next Tech Labs. Third-party material (recitation audio,
Qur'an text and translations, reciter portraits) belongs to its respective
rightsholders and is used under their terms; the Credits screen names them.
Availability, and no promise of it
We run the app on servers we rent, and we do our best to keep it working. We do
not promise it will always be available, that data will never be lost, or that
every feature will keep working forever. Features that depend on outside
services — recitation streaming, the automated listener, push notifications —
can stop working for reasons outside our control.
Back-ups exist and are tested, but the responsibility for anything you would be
upset to lose is shared: nothing in the app is a system of record for anything
that matters legally or financially.
Ending the agreement
You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Edit Profile → Delete
account, or by writing to support@nextechlabs.tech. Deletion removes your
account and the data attached to it, as described in the Privacy Policy. It
cannot be undone.
We may close an account that breaks these terms, or stop offering the app
entirely. If we shut the service down we will give reasonable notice so you can
export or record anything you want to keep.
Liability
The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable
for indirect or consequential loss arising from using it. Nothing here limits
liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death, personal
injury, or fraud.
Some countries give consumers rights that cannot be signed away. Nothing in
these terms removes those rights.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts
of Dubai have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer
protections in the country where you live.
Changes
We may update these terms as the app changes. The effective date above always
says when they last changed. If a change materially affects your rights we will
tell you in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use the app after
that means you accept the new terms.
